Changes in the Illinois Dental Practice Act allows dental assistants to perform Pit and Fissure Sealants only when certified by an approved CE sponsor. The course will provide dental assistants with the proper educational requirements to perform Pit and Fissure Sealants.
The course will include the study of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and dental emergencies followed by a written exam. Upon successful completion of the written exam, students will begin the clinical instruction. The clinical instruction will be held at a local dental office. Information about the clinical portion will be given during the lecture.
The course fee covers the lecture and clinical portions. The clinical instruction on Pit and Fissure Sealants will include work performed on models. Dental assistant students must be 18 years old and have been working as a dental assistant for at least 1,000 hours, about six months full time. Participants will be required to place at least six Pit and Fissure Sealants under the observance of their supervising dentist. Upon successful completion of the lecture, clinical instruction, and return of verification of sealant placement form, participants will receive a certificate to perform Pit and Fissure Sealants.
The seminar will be held from 10:00am to 2:00pm CT.
Registration fees may be transferred to another course date if written notification is received at least seven (7) days prior to the scheduled course date. Due to limited class size, we are unable to issue refunds.
